Did you know that right now you can get listed for FREE for 6 months on Psychology Today, if you get someone's referral link BEFORE you begin the registration process for the first time? I didn't, so I am telling you.
There are a lot of things I wish I knew when starting out. Like being able to get 6 months on Psychology Today for free if you sign up through someone else's emailed referral link. That was an extra $180 I could have used when I was first exploring directory listings.
If you are in the process of exploring getting listed in directories, you should ask a colleague to send a referral through the Psychology Today system. They won't mind the request because they will also get a free month. It might be especially nice to check in with those who are also new to practice and could use the budgeting help of not having to spend $30 one month.
Be aware that Psychology Today seems to track emails throughout the registration process, even if you started signing up but didn't finish or didn't activate. Make sure to check in with others you know who already have a Psychology Today profile BEFORE you begin the signup process.
If you don't have anyone else to ask for a referral from, please feel free to ask me through the form at the bottom of the page. Remember that the Psychology Today system will not allow anyone to send the referral to your email if you have already started the registration process (even if you didn't finished). The system will throw the below error if tried:
Don't forget that there are some other FREE (or inexpensive) Therapist Directories out there too.
